sometimes you just have to make something so pretty and perfect

So for a while I've wanted this foil embossing thing, and I found it on a great sale at zulilly. I assumed like most things at Zulilly it would take forever to get to me, and it didn't. It was 3 days. And I have been dying to open up this bad boy and figure it out.

well I did today! Man, I am in love.

This is the starter set which comes with the fine tip, medium and bold pens. Plus all the holders for all the different cutting machines. Basically you use this to emboss whatever (it will even do fabric and wood) and So i started with something complicated. As usual. Without really reading the instructions. You guys know how I roll.

So those things are like little hot pens. And you put this foil down and it embosses on the material.

Yall. Here's some pointers from this first timer.
1. Color side up. (that one seemed obvious)
2. Make sure to put your mat back in lined up the same way. I was not so careful. Especially in my Silhouette it's an easy mistake to make. The cricut kind of forces you to go into one spot. The Silhouette you can do what you want. Which is kind of why i like it. Do what you want.
3. Dr. Tom was not as excited as I was.

I used the rose gold foil that came with the kit, but i've bought a ton of colors (they were on sale over the holiday weekend)

I had some thank you cards to write and mail so I made envelope seals for them. I think i want to do a unicorn next. I have an adorable monogram frame that i think would be perfect. It's actually my car decal that hasn't made it onto my car. I have a lot of options. The next ones will definitely be unicorn something. I'm going to try to find some iridescent foils for this. Not all foils will work with this. That's going to be a later post about the search for iridescent foils.

So I designed my label in the silhouette design studio and got my machine setup. You actually need to plug the tip into a usb plug (there's one on the side on the maker and on my cameo thankfully) and it will use the tip to sketch first and then cut second. The downside to doing this on my silhouette was that i actually had to take out the tip and put in my blade. If i had used my maker I would not have had to do that, but I'd rather set fire to my silhouette and not the maker. Not that that would have happened. but it was the first time so I didn't want to melt a hole through the thing.

What!!!

Here's a bunch of them. LOVE IT. You can tell that it didn't quite cut them centered (from when i reloaded the mat) next time though I'm going to be more on top of that!

What this has made me miss though, is wedding invitations. I used to do calligraphy on invitations. This would be an amazing thing to use with that.
Right? It's kind of amazing. Maybe once this accountant stuff stops working out I'll go back to it.
