Pinterest Fail, Pinterest Win

Well I tried to be a little more productive this week about getting some projects done.

Wednesday I was outright a little overwhelmed about how much stuff I wanted and needed to get done, and having a complete lack of energy to get them done.

One of the biggest side effects of the blood disorder, and my biggest battle, is fatigue. I do okay with it, Somedays I'll sleep like 12 hours plus, other days I'm just like a big old potato and just sort of slump around.

Today, I went out with my two besties to Hobby Lobby to get some Independence Day ribbon for a wreath, some greenery and some Navy Blue Paint. I was pretty good and stuck to my list. Normally that does not happen in a craft store.

I found this "wreath" on Pinterest and feel in love with it. I can't find anything about the original post, but I was instantly in love. I mean really red, white and blue flowers for Memorial and Independence Day? no thanks.

So I tried my hand at making and in the end I've come up with something pretty close with my own spin.
But First, A fail.

First I pulled out my colors, obviously red white and blue. And I started by painting the whole thing white.

I then used my cricut to cut out stencils of stars, lined up how I wanted them. Originally I thought I wanted them in a line, but that looked a little.... Off.
this is the fail. I made a grid after painting it white and placed the stars on the grid. That was a BAD idea. Not only was it awful to get this pencil off the white, it just looked a mess. Which is why, I went to the not in a straight line pattern.

You can see I switched to a darker blue. I was not happy with the brighter shade. also the bottom there, the stars are a little off. I just put the bow over that part. Easy fix!

After peeling the stencil up for the stars and painting the blue, I made the lettering in vinyl with my cricut.

And I just peeled the vinyl and put it on top of everything. It was just way easier than painting it. I think it looks great!

After days of searching for ribbon and greenery I ended up at Hobby Lobby this morning. I could spend all our money there without any effort.

Here it is not surrounding by a hot mess!!!
