The Bench
Tonight's movie in our 30 day film challenge is a film that makes you think. We picked Primer. I'm pretty sure Tom and I watched this on a date forever ago, and I remember being like what is this mess?
I've been trying to get on a everyday cleaning schedule. I suck at housework. it also sucks because "The Dr" is so messy. Bless his heart, so it's always an uphill battle. I've really thought several times about getting a maid but then i'm like why is it this hard to keep this house together. this weekend i'm going to work on it. And probably the rest of the week. Especially since next weekend is a three day weekend and I'd like to actually enjoy the pool and sleeping in and snuggles. and probably force someone to make me breakfast in bed.
how do people do it? I mean really I can clean my counters and load the dishwasher but there's so much other fun stuff I like doing. I'm probably going to go downstairs and clean the entryway and the breakfast nook.
I'm planning on making a slipcover for the bench in there this weekend. I really want one of those truly southern easy relaxed things.
This is not my picture, it's from a no longer available etsy listing, but this is exactly what I want. Just less wrinkly. The valance I made for the windows in there are this beautiful magnolia and dogwood print from Waverly.
The one difference in mine is that the dogwood is that deep blue. It was just enough to go with my blue countertops (the sound awful but honestly it's grown on me quite a bit) I'm also redoing the backsplash here shortly. i've had the stuff for like a year and just have not gotten to it.
But I think that will look really great with my curtains. the centerpiece for the table is what I struggle with. I have this giant lantern that has no where to go, but I love too much to just throw in a corner. And I've got this amazing scrollwork tray that's probably a little too big for the table.
The table in my breakfast room is my grandparents Federal Walnut Drop Leaf Table. I love it dearly. and it matches my cabniets perfectly. But deep down, I wouldn't mind getting a circular pedestal table and putting it in there, and moving this table to the entryway. but it would make the entryway so dark.
I'm planning on painting my entryway table a bright robin's egg blue and antiquing it. Thats a project for another day for sure.
